The "Sixth Bus" is a search for truth in a place where truth is selective, elusive and even feared.。战争结束后过了三年，著名画家小野益次步入老年，他所居住的小镇从战后的废墟逐渐恢复，他在镇上过着安稳的生活。他心爱的女儿和外孙到访，他和熟悉的酒馆老板娘闲谈，他邂逅战前的旧友。就在二女儿开始考虑一门婚事的时候，小野发现了周围人的目光有所转变。他本认为自己是抱着坚强的意志为了国家一直鞠躬尽瘁，为什么现在却非得遭受大家的责难呢？他也渐渐认识到害怕自己曾经的影子是因为自己的软弱…。
