一列飞驰的火车上，做着破衣烂衫、土了土气的老农黄三爹，虽然貌不惊人，举止粗俗，可是他却是广西十万大山南阳乡远近闻名的“烟叶大王”，此行他带着县文工团当演员的女儿达欣去桂林旅游，同时想和外界交流一下种烟的技术。火车上他偶遇在某单位当采购员的黄宝，对方称有一位来自南洋的叔公也是种烟大王，此时正在桂林旅游，黄宝承诺愿意为二人搭桥牵线。在旅游胜地桂林，黄三爹和女儿准备前往桂林第一流的象山宾馆，结果因为穿着落伍遭到了各种歧视，幸亏卖萨其马的善良青年阿福（赵炎 饰）出手相助，才让父女感受到一丝温暖。 后来为了惩戒那群势利眼，阿福故意把南阳黄三爹说成了南洋的黄叔公……。The play tells the story of a young couple, Cathy (played by Carol White) and Reg (Ray Brooks).
