二十世纪末，北京印刷厂工人翦卫国，赢得厂花江明娟的好感。婚后江明娟发现翦卫国“骗”了自己，毅然生下孩子后离他而去。四姐因为喜爱翦峰，逐渐对翦卫国有了感情。翦卫国工厂倒闭去开出租，四姐拿出珍藏多年的绝版猴票，让翦卫国变卖后买房，带着翦峰一起生活。价值连城的猴票使翦卫国不敢随意出手，但绝版猴票现世的消息，却引来不少人的垂涎——都要打猴票的主意。小小一枚猴票，令翦卫国和四姐的生活皱起波澜，各色人物，在金钱诱惑前，显现出世间百态。四姐和翦卫国也在欲望面前，经受着考验。最后，翦卫国毅然将“猴票”捐出，了断所有人的念想，而他则开着自己的出租车，带着四姐和翦峰，去登记结婚！。SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems?
