并不富裕的伊莱扎（乌玛•瑟曼 Uma Thurman 饰）与丈夫以及两个年幼的孩子挤在曼哈顿的一间小小的公寓里。虽然伊莱扎一直都想成为一名专业的作家，但是无奈两个孩子年幼，而丈夫又要上班，所以她只能当起了全职妈妈，写作也只能在料理家务的间隙进行。这天是女儿卡拉拉六岁的生日， 伊莱扎一早便开始为生日会采购。可是谁能料到这样重要的一天竟然状况百出。当伊莱扎为了女儿的生日会四处奔波之际，她不禁为自己“无助”又“凄惨”的母亲生涯感到悲哀。可是当晚上看到女儿快乐的样子，而丈夫终于懂得体贴自己，伊莱扎终于感受到了作为一个母亲不一样的感受。。影片根据公安部督办516四川特大制毒贩毒案真实改编。达川市某国道上，缉毒大队中队长曹任凡带队，正与劫持了大巴车的亡命毒贩激烈火拼，枪林弹雨中救下人质，抓捕了制毒师彭家浩。缉毒队深入侦查研判，摧毁了幕后毒佬为找出警方卧底而精心策划的阴谋，并以彭家浩做饵，抓捕东南亚毒品原料大毒枭“乔哥”。扎根六甲山的毒窝暴露，缉毒专案组与近百名特警与穷凶极恶的制贩毒集团展开了殊死决战，誓要摧毁这个大型犯罪团伙。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
