孤儿钟馗从小立志成为一名捉妖师，却遭到村民们的耻笑羞辱，不得不放弃梦想。长大后的钟馗自称“捉妖大师”，和忽男忽女的鲛人小鱼、憨憨傻傻的人参精欢喜组成“捉妖小分队”，通过装神弄鬼骗钱谋生。 当三人来到洛城，打算继续行骗时，却惊讶的发现真的有妖作乱。一时间，小鱼、欢喜，以及整个洛城的百姓都接连陷入危机。钟馗必须找回自己最初的梦想，获得一个捉妖师真正的力量，才能铲除恶妖，拯救所有人。 钟馗最终打败恶妖，成为了一名合格的捉妖师。接下来，他将带领自己的“捉妖小分队”，继续冒险之旅。。Restoration carried out by the National Museum of Singapore and the World Cinema Foundation.
